Learn more about affordable housing options in Henrico at upcoming fair

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Looking for property in Henrico County? You can learn more about a "groundbreaking affordable housing initiative" during a mid-June informational fair.

Through the county's "Henrico Affordable Housing Trust Fund," eligible first-time homebuyers can find a Henrico home at a lower cost, per a June 2 press release. Eligibility is determined based on annual income.

A free informational fair on this program, called "Keys to Homeownership," will be held from 5 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 12, at the Henrico Sports & Events Center, located at 1 All Star Boulevard.

“We understand that buying your first home has never been more challenging,” said Emily Hurley, revitalization specialist with county's Department of Community Revitalization, in the release. “The Henrico Affordable Housing Trust Fund seeks to increase the number of affordable homes and help county residents realize the dream of homeownership. We encourage prospective first-time buyers to attend Keys to Homeownership.”

Attendees will be able to ask questions and get further information about the program from a variety of related nonprofits and home builder partners. The event will be held open house-style, allowing attendees to visit the fair at any time during its operating hours and get the details they need at their own pace.

Home builders and developers are also welcome to attend to learn more about the incentives the county offers to those who would like to create "quality affordable housing" in Henrico.
