Library of Virginia to host free teacher workshop, open house

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The Library of Virginia will host a free teacher workshop and open house on Aug. 1, where educators can learn about the library's resources and how to use them in the classroom.

From 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Aug. 1, teachers can learn about the Library of Virginia's collections and resources, with an emphasis on primary sources, and how to use them in the classroom.

Attendees will also tour the library's new exhibition, "House to Highway: Reclaiming a Community History."

The workshop will conclude with a conversation between educator Emma Violand-Sánchez, PhD, and writer David Bearinger about their new book, "Dreams and Shadows: An Immigrant's Journey."
