Library of Virginia to screen film about Virginia pilot’s Cold War experience

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) – The Library of Virginia is hosting a film screening of “Bridge of Spies," a film about a Virginia pilot who was shot down during the Cold War, in late February. The event will take place on Friday, Feb. 21, from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. in the library's Lecture Hall. Following the film screening, there will be a Q&A and signing for Gary Powers' new book, “Cold War Virginia." It is about how the Commonwealth played a role in the U.S. involvement in the Cold War. According to the Library of Virginia, Gary Powers was a consultant on the film. It shares the Cold War-era story of his father, Francis Gary Powers.
