Lightning strike sparks fire in Albemarle home
ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A lightning strike sparked a fire in an Albemarle County home on Saturday night.
Just before 9 p.m. on Saturday, July 26, crews with Albemarle County Fire Rescue were called to the 400 block of Grayrock Drive for a report of a fire.
The first crews arrived about six minutes later and found smoke in the attic, per fire rescue.
Fire officials said the homeowners were not home at the time, and their cat was safely located and found unharmed.
Albemarle County Fire Marshal's Office determined that the fire was accidental and the cause was a lightning strike.
