LIST: Central Va. schools closed, delayed Thursday due to low temperatures

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- As an arctic blast batters Virginia with extremely cold air, some Central Virginia school districts are choosing to either close or delay their openings on Thursday. The following Central Virginia school divisions will be closed on Thursday, Jan. 23: Brunswick County Public Schools Charles City County Public Schools Greensville County Public Schools 12-month employees to work virtually. Mecklenburg County Public Schools Middlesex County Public Schools Prince George County Public Schools The following Central Virginia school divisions will open two hours late on Thursday: Buckingham County Public Schools Caroline County Public Schools Essential employees to report on time. Colonial Heights Public Schools Maintenance and custodial staff to report on time. Dinwiddie County Public Schools Essex County Public Schools Hopewell City Public Schools New Kent County Public Schools Northumberland County Public Schools Nottoway County Public Schools Petersburg City Public Schools Sussex County Public Schools This list will be updated as additional closing or delay notifications come in.
