Local Carytown brewery Garden Grove and Urban Winery set to close next month

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Garden Grove Brewing and Urban Winery is set to close its doors in late June after the business's decade-long run on Cary Street.

According to Garden Grove Brewing and Urban Winery's post on Instagram, the business will close after its service on Saturday, June 28.

The closure comes after owner Ryan Mitchell stated on the business's Instagram post that he's opting not to renew the brewery's decade-long lease, which will end in June.

"For Kevin and myself, this is the perfect time for the next chapter in our lives. We both have families that are growing, and it is our time to step away from the brewing industry and focus on our own career goals. Having normalcy in our schedules, time with our wives and watching our children grow are the highest priority," Mitchell said in the post on Garden Grove Brewing and Urban Winery's Instagram.

There's still time to say goodbye to Garden Grove Brewing and Urban Winery. According to Mitchell, people can visit the brewery during the weekend of June 15 for a celebration.

Additionally, starting at noon on Friday, June 13 through the close of the business, all beers, wines and slushes will be $5. The business will also be selling all of its glassware for $5.

According to Mitchell, the business has one more beer that it is brewing to highlight the community organization, Chesterfield County Professional Firefighters Association Local 2803.

"Richmond, thank you for always caring for us, supporting us, and backing us through the last 10 years. It has been truly an honor to serve and be served in this unbelievable community. Here is to the next chapter in our ever-expanding lives," Mitchell said on the business's social media.
