Local non-profit school announces new location for next school year

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) --Wild Fern Montessori school has announced that they will call a new building home for the 2025-2026 school year.

The school is set to relocate to the Wells Fargo building in Lakeside -- the new location will offer the school more enhanced classroom flows, increased storage, improved administrative spaces and carefully planned outdoor areas.

Brei Stevenson, founder and treasurer of the Montessori school and Kate Lipka Head of School have both shared their excitement about the new location.

“We have truly loved our current location and the opportunities it has provided us," shared Lipka, “It has allowed us to grow and thrive, fostering a strong community. We need a bit more space to continue our growth and meet the needs of the student and family community we serve. We are excited about this next chapter in our school's history.”

Construction for the new location began in November and included designs that, according to Wild Fern Montessori, reflected the school's focus, supported staff, and facilitated a thriving community.

The school originally got its start in the basement of the United Unitarian Universalist Church of Glen Allen, however, during the pandemic they then relocated to Lakeside hosted by Overbrook Presbyterian Church.

Since then, the school has found a new home and community.

"We waited a long time for the right place in Lakeside because we've found a home and
community here," shared Stevenson.
