Look back on Richmond’s LGBTQ+ history at Virginia Museum of History and Culture
RICHMOND, Va. -- The Virginia Museum of History and Culture (VMHC) will offer a look at the journey of LGBTQ+ equality in Richmond this Sunday.
As Pride Month comes to a close, the VMHC is hosting a free event from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, June 29 called “Pride and Progress: A look back at the fight for LGBTQ+ equality in Richmond.”
The event will feature a screening of the Richmond-based documentary “Meet Me by the Magnolia Tree," which is about the LGBTQ+ cruising community.
The event will also feature a panel discussion led by Qing Imzadi. It will feature local LGBTQ+ historians and leaders.
Celebrate anniversary of Stonewall Uprising with parade, festivities in Richmond
The VMHC's library will be open during the event and will feature local LGBTQ+ historical documents, photos and ephemera.
