Louisa County Public Schools handed out 38 grants to innovative teachers
LOUISA COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Louisa County Public Schools (LCPS) has announced the awarding of 38 innovation grants to teachers.
On Dec. 10 and 11, Superintendent Doug Straley, division administrators and School Board members handed out the 38 grants, named after the division's 5 Cs of Innovation. This is the sixth year the county has had the initiative, and it has been incredibly beneficial for students and teachers.
LCPS has heavily emphasized using the five Cs in the classroom. The Cs stand for communication, collaboration, creativity, critical thinking and citizenship, which comes from the Virginia Department of Education.
A couple of months ago, teachers applied for grants of up to $2,000 to aid creative and innovative ideas in their classrooms that exemplified the 5 Cs. After a panel reviewed the applications, 38 grants were awarded by the Louisa School Board and the Louisa Education Foundation, totaling more than $40,000.
