Male seriously injured, 23-year-old arrested after alleged assault in Petersburg

PETERSBURG, Va. (WRIC) -- A male was seriously injured and a 23-year-old was arrested in connection with an alleged assault in Petersburg late Saturday evening.

At around 10:45 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 11, officers with the Petersburg Bureau of Police responded to the 100 block of West Old Street for a report of an assault.

When they arrived, officers found a male victim with life-threatening injuries, and he was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Police have arrested and charged a 23-year-old man with aggravated malicious wounding.

He is currently being held without bail pending his next court appearance.
