Man and his dog both shot and killed in Hopewell

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- A man and his dog were both shot and killed in Hopewell Wednesday evening, after which police said a suspect has been arrested and charged.

At 4:14 p.m. on Wednesday, June 4, officers with the Hopewell Police Department responded to the 1500 block of Piper Square Drive for the report of a shooting.

When officers arrived, they found a man with several gunshot wounds. Officials said he died due to his injuries. He was identified by police as 37-year-old Endraqus Thomal Range of Hopewell.

During the shooting, police said his dog was also shot and killed.

Twenty-one-year-old Dayon Elijah Williams, also of Hopewell, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and animal cruelty.

Police said Williams was taken to Riverside Regional Jail and is being held without bond.
