Man arrested after police pursuit from I-95 ended in Richmond car crash

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — A man under investigation by the Richmond Police Department was arrested yesterday after a police pursuit ended in a car crash in Richmond.

At around 8:04 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 16, officers with the Richmond Police Department attempted to stop a suspect vehicle -- which police said was operated by a subject of an investigation by the department -- on Interstate 95 South.

Police said the driver of the car did not stop and instead exited the I-95 in Richmond.

Officers then attempted to stop the vehicle when it crashed into an unoccupied parked car in the 2200 block of Fairfax Avenue.

The driver was identified as an adult male. Police said he attempted to flee on foot but was arrested by Richmond Police a few minutes later.

Authorities said troopers with the Virginia State Police assisted in the operation.
