Man charged with malicious wounding after shooting incident that injured person

PETERSBURG, Va. (WRIC) — A man has been charged with malicious wounding after a shooting incident in Petersburg that left one person injured early Saturday morning.

At around 3:15 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 27, officers with the Petersburg Bureau of Police were called to the 1400 block of Baxter Road for a report of a person being shot.

When officers arrived, they found a man at the scene, and they was taken into custody without incident after they identified him as the suspect.

The victim was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.

The suspect has been charged with malicious wounding and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

The suspect to Riverside Regional Jail pending her court appearance.
