Man dead after crashing into power pole in Henrico

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A man is dead after police say he crashed into a power pole in Henrico County on Monday.

At about 6:30 p.m. on Monday, July 28, officers with the Henrico County Police Division were called to the intersection of Hungary Springs and Staples Mill Road for report of a single-vehicle crash.

When they arrived, officers found a man who had crashed into a power pole. He died at the scene. According to police, he was the only person in the car at the time of the crash.

His identity is being withheld until police can notify his loved ones.

This crash has closed Staples Mill Road from Old Staples Mill Road to Hungary Road, as well as Hungary Springs Road from Olde West Drive to Cottesmore Lane.

Richmond officials move to increase public housing transparency

Police said these closures will remain in place for several hours, as the damage to the utility pole caused the traffic light to lose power.
