Man dies after being found shot, lying on road in Henrico County

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A man is dead after police said he was found lying on a road with gunshot wounds in Henrico County Thursday morning.
At 4:50 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 8, officers with the Henrico County Division of Police responded to the 1400 block of Oakland Road for a reported "suspicious situation."
When officers arrived, they found a man lying on the road with apparent gunshot wounds.
He was taken to a local hospital, where police said he later died.
The man's identity will reportedly be released pending notification of next of kin.
As of reporting, Oakland Road was closed between Old Oakland Road and Bentbrook Drive. Police said the road is expected to reopen during mid-morning.
Officials continue to investigate the deadly shooting as a homicide.
