Man pleads guilty after veering onto sidewalk, killing mother of two in Chesterfield
CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A Chesterfield County man pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter over a year after he veered onto a sidewalk and hit a mother of two, killing her, in the spring of 2024.
During a court hearing on Wednesday, June 11, Quincy D. Ware of Chesterfield pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter in connection with the death of 31-year-old Katherine D. Anderson.
At about 8:19 a.m. on Friday, April 26, 2024, Ware was driving his 2019 Volkswagen Sedan on Lucks Lane when he hit a 2012 Toyota that was turning left onto Spirea Lane.
Ware then veered off the right side of the road and onto the sidewalk, where he hit Anderson. She was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, where she later died.

The scene of the crash was about a mile away from Anderson's home, according to police. Her family previously told 8News that she was a beloved wife and mother with two children.
Ware was arrested about two months after the crash took place.
He was initially charged with both involuntary manslaughter and reckless driving. However, the reckless driving charge was later "nolle prossed" -- meaning prosecutors declined to proceed.
Ware's next court date is set for Sept. 24.
