Man pleads guilty to 2024 I-64 shooting that put man in the hospital

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- A suspect has pleaded guilty in connection to a shooting on Interstate 64 in 2024 that put one man in the hospital.

According to the Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation, 28-year-old Jeremy Anthony Hill plead guilty to aggravated malicious wounding and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony on Oct. 2.

Hill's charges are in connection to an I-64 West shooting that happened in Richmond near the Staples Mill exit on Nov. 24 at 11:38 p.m., when an individual in one vehicle fired multiple rounds at the other.

The victim had several gunshot wounds, and was later taken to VCU Medical Center in critical condition at the initial time of reporting. According to state police, those injuries have been downgraded to non-life-threating.

Officials stated that this incident is still under investigation, and they are committed to investigating interstate shootings and holding accountable those who pose a threat to public safety.

"We are incredibly grateful to the members of the public who came forward and assisted investigators in solving this case," said Capt. Brien Frey, commander of the Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation’s Richmond Field Office.

"Their willingness to speak up and share what they saw made a real difference. We encourage anyone who witnesses a criminal act or suspicious activity to report it to law enforcement immediately — your information could be the key to preventing future violence," Frey added.
