Man shot, killed in highway shooting in Henrico

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A man is dead after he was shot on Interstate 64 East in Henrico County on Thursday.
At about 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 20, state troopers with Virginia State Police (VSP) were called to I-64 eastbound near Mechanicsville Turnpike for report of a person shot.
According to VSP, officers with the Henrico County Police Division saw a car that had crashed off the right side of the highway. When they approached the car, they found the driver had been shot.

That driver, an unidentified man, was taken to a local hospital, where he later died.
The highway surrounding the scene was shut down soon after VSP arrived. According to VSP, it will remain closed for some time as investigators continue to work the scene.
No additional information is available as of the time of reporting. This shooting remains under investigation.
