Man to be sentenced on first-degree murder for 2024 shooting at Richmond bus stop
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — A man is expected to be sentenced after he was found guilty of first-degree murder last year for a deadly shooting at a bus stop in front of Richmond City Hall.
Johnathan Jackson, 30, was found guilty in December of shooting and killing Vincent Robinson, Jr. The deadly shooting unfolded at a GRTC bus stop in front of Richmond City Hall in March 2024.
Jackson will stand before a judge at the John Marshall Courthouse at 1 p.m. on Friday, March 7, and learn how much time he will serve behind bars for the deadly shooting of Vincent Robinson, Jr.
The shooting happened on the morning of March 8, 2024. Robinson, Jr. was shot in the torso at the GRTC bus stop near Ninth Street and 10th Street in front of Richmond City Hall.
Investigators say that there was some type of exchange between the two men at the bus stop before the shooting started.
Police found Robinson shot and he was taken to the hospital, where he later died.
Days after the shooting, 8News spoke with Robinson Jr.’s family. They said he had a 10-year-old son and that they were heartbroken that he wouldn't get to see him grow up.

Jackson, however, was on the run for almost two weeks and wasn't arrested until March 20. He was charged with first-degree murder and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony for Robinson, Jr.'s death.
