Mark Warner announces campaign for reelection in 2026

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Senator Mark Warner (D-Va.) has announced his plans to campaign for a fourth term.

The announcement was made in a video released on Tuesday, Dec. 2, in which Warner outlined his plans for his next term in office. The primary focuses he outlined were affordability costs, healthcare and AI.

“If you think we’ve seen massive technological innovations in the last two decades, just wait until you see what’s coming next,” said Warner. “America has never been afraid of the future, and we don’t need to start now. These challenges also present a massive opportunity. Instead of being paralyzed by fear – or worse, making futile attempts to turn back the clock – we can make sure that innovation helps everyone get a fair shot at the American Dream.”

Warner was first elected to the U.S. Senate in 2008 and was reelected in 2014 and 2020. During that time, he has written and sponsored 85 bills that have been signed into law.

Prior to his service as a senator, Warner was Virginia's governor from 2002 to 2006 and a tech entrepreneur before that.

In September, Republican State Senator Bryce Reeves (R-Orange) announced he would be challenging Warner's seat in 2026. Reeves outlined his agenda as standing "shoulder to shoulder" with President Donald Trump and focusing on affordability and border security.
