Master plan process in full effect in Goochland County
GOOCHLAND COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Goochland County's Parks and Recreation Department announced that it is beginning its master plan process.
The plan was put in place to recognize and address priorities, challenges and strategies to furnish the recreational equipment of the community and meet its needs, according to the county. This process will last 5 to 10 years and will steer the future of parks, recreational facilities, trails and programs.
"We are committed to providing exceptional parks and recreation experiences that enrich the lives of our residents," said Tom Cocke, director of the county's Parks and Recreation Department. "The master plan process is essential to ensure that we are meeting the community's needs and providing a strong parks and recreation system for future generations."
The Parks and Recreation Department has been seeking input from the community, with the first public meeting held on Wednesday, Jan. 22. That meeting drew many people from across the county including residents and community organizations, according to the county.
The department encourages the residents to be vocal about this process.
"We want to hear from everyone in the community," Cocke said. "Your input is critical to the success of this plan. Together, we can create a parks and recreation system that meets the needs of our growing community."
The master plan process' anticipated completion date is the fall of 2025.
The next public meeting will be held at Salem Baptist Church at 6 p.m. on Monday, March 18.
