Maternity crisis residence in Hanover to offer counseling and life skills
HANOVER COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A maternity crisis residence is opening in Hanover County, celebrating with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Saturday morning.
Millie's Home, a new maternity home and resource program, is celebrating its formal opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 17.
Millie’s Home Founder and CEO Sarah Dunfod, Pastor of Life Church Buddy Thompson, Millie’s Home Board of Directors and community members are all scheduled to attend Saturday's ribbon-cutting.
This is a first for Hanover County, and the residence will be able to accommodate four women and their children for up to 18 months in crisis housing, counseling, life skills, parenting classes and community assistance referrals, according to a release.
Meanwhile, Millie's Home will offer women a mentor to "create a life plan filled with structure, support, and encouragement," the release said, providing parents with the tools needed for themselves and their children.
