Maymont to celebrate 100 years in 2026 with series of events

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Maymont is celebrating 100 years in 2026. To mark the occasion, it's offering a series of special events for people to enjoy in the new year.

The first event will feature a reopening of the Maymont Mansion after two years of restoration efforts, according to Maymont's website. People can see its new roof and other touch-ups at the open house on Saturday, March 21, 2026.

That's not the only thing reopening. Visitors can navigate new and remodeled habitats, as well as more accessible pathways, on Saturday, April 18, 2026 during the grand reopening of the Virginia Wildlife Trail.

An annual tradition will be observed in the new year, as well, as guests are set to gather on the Mansion Lawn for Maymont's annual gala dinner and auction on Saturday, May 16, 2026. Guests can also bid on wines and treasures and travel experiences, which helps contribute to Maymont's annual budget.

Additionally, on Saturday, June 6, 2026, attendees can expect family-friendly games, animal keeper talks, tours and live entertainment to officially celebrate 100 years of Maymont.
