Missing Henrico woman last seen on Richmond bridge over a week ago
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Police are searching for a 59-year-old Henrico County woman who was last seen on a bridge in Richmond over a week ago.
On Tuesday, Feb. 18, the Richmond Police Department issued a missing person alert for 59-year-old Mareesa Jones of Henrico County.
At 8:18 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 8, officers with the Richmond Police Department were called to the Lee Bridge for a report of a "suspicious situation." According to police, the caller said a Black woman was standing near the bridge's railing.
Investigators found a vehicle parked nearby that was registered to Jones, who is believed to be that woman.

Jones, pictured above, is described by police as a Black woman who is about 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighs about 200 pounds. The caller told police that, while on the bridge, Jones was wearing a black tracksuit, a knit hat and glasses.
"Since the report of the incident, the Richmond Police Department, the Richmond Fire Department’s Water Rescue Team and the Metro Aviation Unit have utilized resources to attempt to locate Jones, which included searching the James River and surrounding areas," police said.
Jones' family is concerned for her safety.

"Detectives will continue to investigate but urge concerned individuals not to search in and around the James River, which is at flood stage with dangerous debris," police said.
