Missing Hopewell 18-year-old disappeared under ‘suspicious circumstances,’ may be in danger

HOPEWELL, Va. (WRIC) -- A Hopewell 18-year-old who disappeared under "suspicious circumstances" could be in danger, police say.

Just before 10:50 p.m. on Thursday, March 26, Virginia State Police issued a critically missing adult alert for 18-year-old Jayden Michael McComber.

McComber was last seen around 11:33 p.m. on Wednesday, March 25 leaving his home in the 2500 block of Richmond Street.

His disappearance is believed to pose a credible threat to his health and safety, state police said. The Hopewell Police Department provided additional clarity as to why this concern exists.

"The Hopewell Police Department and Mr. McComber’s family are concerned due to the suspicious circumstances of his disappearance," police said. "The family reports that it is unusual for Jayden not to communicate with them."

McComber, pictured above, is described as a young Black man with brown eyes and brown hair. He is said to be about 5-feet-2-inches tall and weigh about 130 pounds.

State police said that, at this time, it's not known what McComber was wearing when he was last seen. However, he may be driving a silver 2019 Chevrolet Silverado with a Virginia license plate reading "TCL-7303." A stock image of that truck is included above.

It's currently believed that the vehicle has been spotted in Glen Allen, Virginia Beach, Chesapeake and King William County.

"The Hopewell Police Department is working closely with the Virginia State Police and neighboring jurisdictions to locate Jayden," police said. "We urge anyone who may have seen Jayden or his vehicle, or who has information regarding his whereabouts, to contact the authorities immediately."
