Multiple arrested after multi-day domestic violence investigation in Henrico
HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Multiple people were arrested following a multi-day domestic violence investigation in October by the Henrico County Police Division.
During October, Henrico Police said the division focused its efforts on rounding up offenders who had active warrants tied to domestic violence.
During a multi-day operation, Henrico Police reportedly arrested and/or served 13 people who were wanted on outstanding domestic violence-related warrants.
Police said those warrants included charges of strangulation, domestic assault and the violation of a protective order.
Henrico Police ask any community members with active warrants tied to domestic violence to turn themselves in. Anyone who knows of someone with such a warrant is asked to call police.
The division noted that domestic violence affects everyone -- family, friends, co-workers and others in the community.
Knowing the signs of abuse is vital to mitigate domestic violence in Henrico County. Some of those signs include possessiveness, verbal abuse, rape and disregard of consent, and control of another person.
“Abuse in relationships tends to escalate over time,” said the Henrico County Police Division’s Domestic Violence Coordinator Beth Bonniwell. “If you suspect your relationship is unhealthy, seek support and learn about resources that can help now."
