Multiple residents displaced in residential fire in Albemarle County

ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Multiple individuals were displaced in a residential fire on Tuesday night in the Afton area of Albemarle County, according to Albemarle County Department of Fire Rescue. At approximately 8:43 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 3, fire and volunteer crews from Albemarle County responded to a residential fire at the 2600 block of Crystal Spring Lane in the Afton area. The first crew arrived on the scene at 8:58 p.m. and found that there was a chimney fire that caused smoke to spread into the home. According to fire department, the home was occupied by two residents during the fire who were able to evacuate themselves. One of the occupants were evaluated on the scene for minor injuries. The residents that were displaced are being assisted by the American Red Cross.
