Nearly 8,000 homes, businesses without power in Central Virginia
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Nearly 8,000 homes and businesses were without power in Central Virginia Friday morning following severe weather that passed through the area.
Severe thunderstorms hit the Greater Richmond Region beginning in the afternoon of Thursday, June 19. The stormy weather damaged power lines, causing outages across the area.
As of 6:15 p.m. on Friday, June 20, about 7,847 homes and businesses were without power in Central Virginia, according to Dominion Energy.
This includes the following localities:
- Henrico County: 5,747 homes and businesses without power
- Richmond: 1,163 homes and businesses without power
- Hanover County: 586 homes and businesses without power
- Goochland County: 238 homes and businesses without power
- Colonial Heights: 113 homes and businesses without power
At the peak of the outage on Thursday, June 19, nearly 90,000 homes and businesses had no power.
