New trial dates set for father charged with son’s death after he ingested ‘significant amount’ of cocaine

SPOTSYLVANIA, Va. (WRIC) -- New trial dates have been scheduled in Spotsylvania County Circuit Court for a father charged with his 2-year-old son's death.

Cinceir Croxton, 24, will go to trial for five charges, including second-degree murder and child abuse, on Oct. 1, 2025.

Croxton's trial was originally scheduled for this past April, but was delayed and then changed during a status hearing on Monday, May 5.

Croxton was first arrested on December 6, 2023, after his son, Cinceir Croxton, Jr. (CJ), died with a "significant amount" of cocaine in his system, according to authorities. He died at the Children’s Hospital of Richmond at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) after being flown there from a Spotsylvania motel.

Croxton's charges along with second degree murder and child abuse include child endangerment, possession with intent to sell, and possession of drugs with a firearm.

CJ's mother, Kahleighya Coleman, was originally facing the same charges as Croxton, but accepted a plea agreement on March 18. The child endangerment and the possession of a firearm charges were dropped. She was convicted of the other three charges and is scheduled for sentencing on June 30.
