Nine people displaced after apartment fire in Chesterfield
CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Chesterfield Fire and EMS are investigating the cause of a fire that displaced nine people on Saturday evening. According to Chesterfield Fire and EMS, at 5:38 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 30, crews responded to a call for a fire in an apartment located within the 5200 block of Whetstone Road. When the first firefighters arrived on scene, they found fire on the first floor of an apartment, which then spread to the second floor as well as two neighboring apartments. The fire was marked under control within 30 minutes, and there were no injures. The cause is still under investigation. Nine people have been displaced as a result of the fire, and they are being assisted by either apartment management or family. Several Richmond Fire Units and the Metro Richmond Flying Squad also responded to the fire in addition to the Chesterfield crews.
