Nonprofit to distribute 144 winter care kits during ‘Wraped in Care’ in Richmond

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — A Virginia-based nonprofit is looking to bring warmth to the city of Richmond this winter season.

The Vet Way Foundation announced on Thursday, Dec. 25, that it's hosting a community outreach event, "Wrapped in Care," to distribute 144 winter care kits to individuals experiencing homelessness throughout the city, with a focus on veterans.

The winter care kits will include cold-weather items and basic hygiene supplies, per the release.

"The goal is [simply] to provide practical help during the winter months while treating every individual with dignity and respect," said the nonprofit in the release.

The initiative will take place during the Martin Luther King Jr. weekend, on Saturday, Jan. 17, from 1 to 4 p.m. The operations will be based at 7 1/2 W. Marshall St.

Teams will then travel from the location above to several areas in the city where individuals experiencing homelessness regularly gather.

Wrapped in Care is a joint collaborative effort between The Vet Way Foundation, The BOYs LLC and The Rock Project, per the release.
