Northern Virginia man arrested after breaking into Goochland bank, church

GOOCHLAND COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A Northern Virginia man is facing charges after allegedly breaking into a bank and a church in Goochland County on Friday.

On Friday, Dec. 26, deputies with the Goochland County Sheriff's Office responded to United Bank in the 100 block of Broad Street Road after receiving a report of damage to a window.

After reviewing surveillance footage, deputies determined the damage was due to a breaking and entering.

According to the sheriff's office, deputies also responded at about 5:20 p.m. on Friday to a reported breaking and entering at a church located in the 2400 block of Manakin Road.

Officials said the information provided indicates that the suspect matched the description of the person believed to be responsible for the break-in at United Bank earlier that day.

Deputies found and took a Northern Virginia man into custody, who was positively identified in connection with both incidents. He was hit with two counts of breaking and entering and one count of petit larceny.

The sheriff's office continues to investigate.
