Off-duty Chesterfield firefighter dead after motorcycle crash

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- An off-duty Chesterfield County firefighter has died after a motorcycle crash on Route 10 Friday afternoon.

On Friday, Nov. 7, a motorcyclist was moving west on Route 10, approaching Womack Road, when a white Nissan Altima pulled out from Womack Road onto Route 10. The motorcyclist then hit the driver's side of the Altima.

The motorcyclist was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he later died.

Chesterfield County Fire and EMS told 8News that an off-duty firefighter was involved in the crash and that they were injured. Fire officials could not say which vehicle the firefighter was driving, but police confirmed that the driver of the Altima was not injured in the crash.

All westbound lanes of Route 10 were closed for several hours due to the crash.

No further details are available as of the time of reporting. The Chesterfield County Police Department Crash Team is currently investigating this crash.
