Officer shot, armed homicide suspect at large in Prince Edward

PRINCE EDWARD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A homicide suspect is being sought by authorities in Prince Edward County after reportedly shooting a Farmville police officer in a separate foot pursuit Sunday morning.
According to officials, the incident occurred at around 7:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 29, following a sighting of the suspect, near Prince Edward Highway, U.S. Route 460, and Hixburg Road.
Officials said the suspect, 24-year-old Rayjuan A. Calloway, fired at the officer and ran down Hixburg Road.
Calloway is a suspect in a murder in Roanoke City that occurred in the 900 block of 7th Street NW on the evening of Saturday, June 28, according to Virginia State Police.
"There is currently a large search on going by multiple local and state law enforcement agencies," authorities said.
Officials are asking the public not to engage with the suspect. Residents within a 5-mile radius of Prince Edward Highway and Hixburg Road are advised to shelter in place, lock their doors, remain inside their homes and report any suspicious activity by calling 911.
