Officer, suspect hurt after lengthy police chase ends with crash in Henrico
HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Both an officer and one of the suspects police were pursuing are hurt after a lengthy chase across Henrico County ended in a crash Thursday night. Just after 8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 9, officers with the Henrico County Police Division were called to the 3400 block of Pump Road for report of a larceny. After a brief investigation, officers at the scene identified a vehicle of interest in connection to the larceny. When they tried to take the suspects -- a man and a woman -- into custody, they got into that vehicle and left the scene, according to police. Officers pursued the suspect vehicle, following it on a lengthy chase that ended in a crash on Laburnum Avenue near Havie Road. According to police, one of the involved officers and one of the suspects were hurt during this incident. They were taken to area hospitals for treatment of minor injuries. When 8News asked if it was the crash that caused their injuries, a police spokesperson said they could not confirm how the officer and the suspect were hurt. They added that more details would be released later.
