One dead, two fighting for their lives after four shot in Richmond’s Southside

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- One man is dead and two men are fighting for their lives after police say four men were shot in Richmond's Southside early Sunday morning.

Just before 4 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 17, officers with the Richmond Police Department were called to the 1700 block of Clarkson Road for a report of a person shot.

When authorities arrived, they found a man outside an apartment building with an apparent gunshot wound.

Officers also found two men in an apartment -- also with apparent gunshot wounds. All three men were taken to a local hospital, where one of the men later died due to his injuries.

According to police, another man arrived at a local hospital in a personal vehicle with an apparent gunshot wound.

It has been determined he was injured at the same place on Clarkson Road.

The injuries of two of the men are considered life-threatening, while the injuries of the third man are considered non-life-threatening, per police.

The Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death of the man who died.

Detectives with the Major Crimes division are investigating. The apartment where the incident occurred is known for hosting after-hours parties.
