Over 140 pounds of narcotics, more than $1 million seized in ongoing crime investigations: VSP

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Virginia State Police seized over 140 pounds of narcotics and over $1 million in revenue from illegal drugs within the last week as part of its statewide ongoing crime suppression investigations.

From Thursday, May 29, to Thursday, June 5, state police, along with other law enforcement agencies, partnered to continue their investigation on multiple crimes across the state, including the recovery of firearms and narcotics, as well as efforts to address human trafficking.

According to the Virginia State Police, the following is a summary of highlights from the investigation:

Firearm Recovery

  • 7 firearms were recovered at the value of $4,500

Narcotics Seizure

  • Total of 141.2 pounds of seized narcotics, as well as 4,500 controlled substance pills
  • Denied revenue of seized narcotics were valued at $583,864
  • Narcotics recovered: 9.6 oz of cocaine, .5 oz of crack cocaine, 118 pounds of marijuana, 13.7 pounds of methamphetamine, 8.9 pounds of fentanyl and 4,500 fentanyl pills
  • $18,834 in U.S. currency seized

Explosive Devices Seized

  • One explosive device was safely recovered and offset

Gaming Enforcement

  • 16 gaming-related tips were received -- 1,537 total to-date

Human Trafficking Investigations

  • 23 new human trafficking tips -- 1,005 total to-date
  • Investigations conducted: 214 cases under investigation, 66 victims identified and offered services and 2,932 individual investigative activities.

Virginia State Police said the mission of this operation is to enhance public safety and disrupt criminal enterprises. As a result, they collaborate with local, state and federal agencies to keep communities safe statewide.
