RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Over $500,000 in illegal narcotics were taken off the streets by Virginia State Police (VSP) in just one week, the agency said.

On Friday, March 27, VSP issued its most recent weekly report detailing its ongoing crime suppression operations.

Per that report, between March 18 and March 24, state troopers seized about 20 pounds of illegal drugs across the Commonwealth.

This included 7.1 pounds of marijuana, 5.5 pounds of cocaine, 3.2 pounds of psilocybin, 2.7 pounds of fentanyl, 1.2 pounds of THC consumables and 1.9 ounces of various designer drugs.

These narcotics, if sold, would have generated about $552,080 in revenue, state police said.

Additionally, state troopers recovered eight firearms -- which are valued at $4,000 -- and $3,838 in U.S. currency.

These enforcement actions were carried out through a partnership with federal and local agencies.

“The Virginia State Police remain steadfast in their mission to enhance public safety and uphold the laws throughout the Commonwealth while supporting the Governor’s initiatives on violent crime,” a spokesperson for VSP said in a March 27 press release. “By working in close collaboration with local, state, and federal agencies, law enforcement continues to disrupt criminal enterprises and safeguard communities. "
