Over 6,600 people arrested by ICE in Virginia since Trump’s inauguration
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- More than 6,600 people have been arrested by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) across the state of Virginia since President Donald Trump took office, new data shows.
Between Trump's inauguration on Jan. 20 and Oct. 15, ICE has made a total of 6,610 arrests across the state of Virginia, according to the most recent ICE arrest data from the Data Deportation Project.
This is more than five times the number of arrests made during the same period in 2024, when only 1,165 arrests were made.
8News previously reported that ICE had made 4,179 arrests between Trump's inauguration and July 28 -- meaning that 2,432 of the arrests in this latest total were made in just two and a half months.

Notably, the majority of those arrested are not facing any criminal charges. Only 25.6% have ever been convicted of a crime.
The month with the most arrests made was September, with 975 arrests reported. July and June follow closely behind, with 884 and 878 arrests made, respectively.
While only the first half of October is available within the dataset, a total of 552 people were arrested across those 15 days.
With this continued rise, Virginia remains the sixth-highest ranked state nationally when it comes to ICE arrests, as illustrated by the Immigration Enforcement Dashboard.

The Data Deportation Project obtains arrest data from ICE through the use of Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests. The data publicly available on ICE's own website has been outdated for some time, with the most recent statistics being from December 2024.
