Patrick Herrel chosen as Richmond Public Schools’ new chief operating officer

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- A new chief operating officer has been chosen for Richmond Public Schools, according to an announcement by the school division.

On Friday, Aug. 22, the school division announced over social media that Patrick Herrel will be the Richmond Public Schools' new chief operating officer.

In an email newsletter on Monday, Aug. 25, Superintendent Jason Kamras said Herrel previously worked for Indianapolis Public Schools and is an alumnus of William & Mary.

"I am absolutely thrilled to have him join the team and know he’s going to help us dramatically improve our operational efficiency," Kamras said.

This comes following the resignation of Dana Fox from the same position back in February. A school division spokesperson said the decision was made due to Fox wanting to work closer to home and prioritize family.
