Patti LaBelle is coming to Richmond’s Altria Theater in April

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Patti LaBelle, the godmother of soul, is headed to Richmond to perform at the Altria Theater, with special guest Leela James.

The Altria Theater announced on Jan. 6 that LaBelle will be coming to the Altria Theater on Sunday, April 19. Tickets for the event go on sale on Friday, Jan. 9, at 10 a.m.

LaBelle has returned to her roots with her latest project, "The Gospel According to Patti Labelle," per a release.

"I was born gospel, so it's not like I'm coming back or trying to impress people with this new gospel project. I've always done this. I've never done a whole album. That's the only thing that's missing," LaBelle said.

LaBelle wants her fans to understand that this new record is a true reflection of her heart and soul, and that they should not judge it.
