Person dead after crashing into power pole in Chesterfield

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A person is dead after they crashed into a power pole in Chesterfield County on Monday.

The evening of Monday, March 3, officers with the Chesterfield County Police Department were called to the 4700 block of Kingsland Road for report of a single-vehicle crash.

When they arrived, first responders found that a driver had crashed their vehicle into a power pole, snapping that pole and bringing down wires.

The driver, who was the only person in the vehicle at the time of the crash, died as a result of their injuries.

According to police, speed is considered a factor in this crash.

Kingsland Road in the area of the crash has been shut down in both directions as detectives continue to work the scene. At about 7 p.m., a police spokesperson told 8News that this could take a few more hours.

Power to any affected residents in the area will be restored once the scene has been cleared.
