Person flown to hospital after trying to contain large brush fire in Brunswick

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A Brunswick County property owner had to be flown to the hospital on Thursday after officials say they tried to contain a large brush fire.

The afternoon of Thursday, Aug. 28, firefighters with the Dolphin Volunteer Fire Department were called to Warner Lane off of Old Stage Road for report of a large brush fire.

When they arrived, crews learned the owner of the property on fire had tried to contain the blaze, causing them to get hurt.

They were taken to an area hospital via helicopter for treatment. Fire officials did not share the severity of their injuries.

Man shot multiple times, truck stolen out of Fluvanna

Units from Brunswick County EMS, as well as the Alberta Volunteer Fire Department and the Lawrenceville Fire Department, aided Dolphin's crews in their response. The Virginia Department of Forestry also assisted.
