Person seriously injured after running off road, crashing in Chesterfield

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- One person was seriously injured after their vehicle ran off the road and crashed in Chesterfield County on Wednesday morning.

Virginia State Police troopers said the crash happened at around 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 27, on Route 288 southbound at mile marker 7 in Chesterfield.

According to state police, a 2007 Cadillac SUV ran off the road and hit the exit sign and a tree.

Officials said the driver, who was the only person in the vehicle, was taken to the hospital for serious injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
