Petersburg man arrested on narcotics and firearm charges after an altercation

PETERSBURG, Va. (WRIC) -- A Petersburg man is under arrest after police responded to a report of a person shot on commerce road on Sunday, June 8.

At 12:07 a.m. Petersburg police responded to a shooting on the 600 block of Commerce road for a reported person shot. When police arrived on the scene they determined no one had been shot, however shots were fired after an altercation.

According to the Petersburg Bureau of Police, 47 year-old Leon Cory Goode was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, reckless handling of a firearm and discharging a firearm within the city limits.

Goode was also charged with possession of a firearm, possession of cocaine and possession of Cocaine with the intent to distribute, after Petersburg police later discovered narcotics.

Goode is currently being held with his court appearance pending.
