Petersburg police offer safety tips after multiple vehicle break-ins, larcenies

PETERSBURG, Va. (WRIC) -- The Petersburg Bureau of Police is offering tips to help residents protect themselves after multiple vehicle break-ins and larcenies.

According to a social post from police, a series of vehicle break-ins and larcenies have occurred in the Westover Avenue and Stainback Street area of the city.

"These vehicle break-ins and larcenies are currently under investigation," the social post reads.

Police are urging community members to do the following:

  • Always lock your doors and close your windows
  • Never leave valuables in plain sight
  • Park in well-lit and secure areas
  • Report suspicious activity to police
