The City of Petersburg said real estate property owners in Petersburg were recently sent their second-quarter tax bills, including property owners whose mortgage companies typically handle tax payments. A city spokesperson said this error occurred during the transition to a new format for real estate tax bills and a change to a contractor that handles the printing and mailing of the bills. Incorrect information was provided to the contractor during the process, and bills were sent to both property owners and their mortgage companies.
