Petersburg to extend hours of Comfort Station due to winter storm
PETERSBURG, Va. (WRIC) -- The city of Petersburg will extend the hours of the Comfort Station over the weekend due to the expected winter storm.
In the morning on Friday, Jan. 23, the city announced that it will extend the Comfort Station's hours over the weekend.
The facility is at the Transit Station located at 100 W. Washington St., and access is available through the doors on the Operations side, where buses board.
The space offers a place to warm up, with restroom facilities and water available to anyone who may need it.

Beginning at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 24, the city said its Comfort Station will extend its hours and remain open continuously through the morning on Monday, Jan. 25.
Following the winter storm, the city said the Comfort Station will resume its normal hours, Monday through Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
A city spokesperson said alcoholic beverages, smoking and "hard foods" are not allowed in the facility.
Service animals are allowed, according to the city, but must be "properly maintained at all times."
Officials said any violation of the station's rules or other policies may result in removal from the facility.
