NEW KENT COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Colonial Downs Racetrack is preparing for the Virginia Derby in mid-March, which will be the Commonwealth's first-ever Kentucky Derby qualifier race.
The Virginia Derby will be held at the track on March 15. According to Colonial Downs, the winning horse will secure a spot in the field for the 151st Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs.
