PHOTOS: Downed tree causes electrical fire in Chesterfield home

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A fallen tree caused a fire in a Chesterfield County home Wednesday morning.

At 8:45 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 12, fire crews with Chesterfield County Fire and EMS responded to a report of a house fire in the 10500 block Ashburn Road.

According to the fire department, the first firefighters to arrive at the scene found smoke coming from the inside of the home. They then found a small fire in an appliance.

The fire was put out shortly after. There were no reported injuries.

The investigation determined that the fire was electrical -- caused by a tree that fell on a powerline or transformer in the backyard, which resulted in the line overcharging.
